Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin Irish News interview

Pádraigín interviewed in The Irish News on new song ‘Beannú’ and ongoing work.

Pádraigín was recently interviewed in The Irish News about her new song, ‘Beannú’, an invocation of Ireland’s goddesses. ‘Beannú’, which can be viewed on irishsong.com is one composition from an ongoing work by Pádraigín.

“I thought it was timely, during Covid-19, to invoke their blessing and to re-energise their memory but it was purely coincidental that I chose 19 different goddesses – that was not the plan.”

Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin, The Irish News, 02/10/2020.

Pádraigín discusses how she came to compose the song, her use of technology and her ongoing work.

“Beannú is one of the songs and I’m working on another song from the keening tradition and another body of songs.”
